One HEAT Minute: Episode #129 - DAN HEATON (WRITER FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SNOB, CINEMA AXIS, POPMATTERS AND HOST OF THE TOMORROW SOCIETY PODCAST)

ONE HEAT MINUTE is the podcast examining Michael Mann's 1995 L.A crime epic HEAT, minute by minute. It's the 129th minute (2:08:00 -2:09:00) - host Blake Howard joins writer for the Public Transportation Snob blog, Cinema Axis and PopMatters and host of the Tomorrow Society Podcast, Dan Heaton. Blake and Dan breakdown Neil's slow-motion pursuit of Eady up the hill next to her house through the long grass like they're watching a nature video where a predator subdues its prey and spend a moment marvelling at the L.A sunrise, courtesy of Dante Spinotti. When you're running up hills away from your sociopathic criminal boyfriend in L.A in 1995, there's only one podcast I'd recommend.

GUEST BIO

Dan Heaton

My name is Dan Heaton, and I've written about films, television, and pop culture since the early 2000s. On this blog, I post reviews and essays about both new and older movies and TV series. I live in St. Louis, Missouri with my wife and two young girls, who definitely keep me busy.

My start with film studies happened during an "Introduction to Film" class in high school. My first term paper analyzed the themes of Aliens; the writing was pretty terrible, but I was hooked. My favorite movies include Almost FamousCasablancaGoodfellasHis Girl FridayKicking and ScreamingL.A. StoryMagnoliaMalcolm XOnce, and Serenity.

This blog's title comes from a quote from the Whit Stillman film Metropolitan, a personal favorite. The name also has a secondary meaning because I commuted to work by train for seven years (no easy feat in St. Louis). While I might not call myself a snob, the title reflects a bit of my life. The quote is included in the blog's sidebar.
