One HEAT Minute: Episode #18 - Anna Dzenis
It's the eighteenth episode of ONE HEAT MINUTE, the podcast examining Michael Mann's 1995 crime epic HEAT minute by minute. Host Blake Howard is joined by academic, writer and proper Mann aficionado Anna Dzenis. Anna took time out of lecturing at La Trobe University in Melbourne to discuss the formal techniques Mann uses to contrast the interior and exterior experience of watching this crew work. Anna and Blake also discuss the characteristic blend of documentary realism and stylisation in Michael Mann's work.

Anna Dzenis
Anna Dzenis lectures in the Screen Studies program. She teaches introductory screen literacy, screen criticism, world cinema, film history and theories of visuality. She has studied photography and cinema and brings these two disciplines together in her teaching. She is also one of the editors of the online journal of visual media and history Screening the Past.
